Project Name:
Optical Component Analyzer.
Client:
dBm Optics
Product description:
The Optical Component Analyzer characterizes loss, polarization dependency and return loss quickly and accurately. It has unprecedented optical repeatability, accuracy, and speed. A device can be characterized over a 100 nm span at 1 pm resolution with 1 pm and 0.015 dB accuracy in less than 1 second. This device eliminates the need for the reference measurement entirely by using a proprietary real-time reference. It constantly monitors the input power to the device and calculates the loss based on the power out of the device. In addition to speeding the measurement and eliminating the reference errors, it also eliminates the effect of variation in the source power between the reference and the loss measurement.
Our Responsibilities:
Kinetek designed the digital control and firmware for the channel cards, and the software for the GUI, and ported the product to Linux. The purpose of this instrument is to test optical components used in telecommunications.
