Kent Sabin - Systems Integrator
Kent serves as a Project Manager and Systems Integrator for Kinetek Systems. Kent graduated with honor from Georgia Institute of Technology (aka Georgia Tech) with a B.S. in Physics. He has extensive experience with project management and systems integration in the telecommunications industry. Kent has worked with a variety of companies, ranging from the government (U.S. Department of Energy), to high growth high tech (EarthLink) to a small telecommunications consulting firm. This experience gives him the ideal background for dealing with large and small scale projects for clients that range from entrepreneurs to large institutions. Having spent ten years in the telecommunications industry, Kent has become very good at managing the integration of various systems, that are often proprietary.
Outside of work, Kent enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys cycling, hiking, and skating, and is hoping to take up skiing. Kent is an amateur musician who enjoys playing guitar, bass and piano, as well as catching live performances by local and visiting artists whenever he gets a chance. When he has the time, he is an avid reader of Science Fiction.

Greg Kern - Electrical Engineer
Greg’s connection with Kinetek goes back to 1991 when he worked for us part-time while in graduate school in CU’s Electrical Engineering program. At the completion of his studies he worked for us for a few more years but back then KSI was still just a three-man operation (including Greg) so he decided to try his hand elsewhere. He began working first as the Director of R&D at a company involved with solar and wind power research primarily supporting US Department of Energy contracts. After six years of work in the renewable energy industry he moved on to a Senior Design Engineer position for a local optics test company. Here he provided embedded system development for optical test instruments. Many of these products compete successfully today with some of Agilent Technologies high-end instruments currently on the market.
Before moving to Colorado for graduate school Greg graduated with a B.S. in Physics from MIT on a Navy scholarship. After graduating from MIT, he served two years in the US Navy as an Electrical Officer where he was responsible for a Destroyer Tender’s electrical and electronic systems, in addition to supervising 40 enlisted personnel.
Greg also independently holds two patents to go along with two others pending. In his spare time Greg enjoys photography, restoring historical buildings, his two dogs, and eating sushi.

Nick Jancewicz - Electrical Engineer
The timing couldn’t have been better for Kinetek when Nick decided to apply for a position with us. We were on the hunt for a proven & experienced development engineer that could hit the ground running to help us with an influx of new clients. Nick was looking to transition from the corporate grind to a company where he could showcase his full breadth of engineering skills in the dynamic & fast-paced world of contract engineering. Nick has over 20 years of professional engineering experience many of which were spent with one of the largest instrument companies in the valley. He has maintained software & firmware for water analyzers that monitor water used for semiconductor, pharmaceuticals, and various life sciences. He helped to develop a new low-cost TOC water analyzer as well as the Windows applications for simulating and testing instrument firmware via PC. His wealth of experiences (though too many to fully list here) also includes developing monitoring and control systems for the Oil & Gas industry, and industrial robotics development used in clean-room environments, to name a few.
In his spare time Nick takes full advantage of the Colorado lifestyle; biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. We’re glad to have Nick on our team and think you’ll be glad to have him on your next project.

Joe Mahoney - Technician
Joe received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronic Engineering from Southeast Community College in Milford, NE. He has an Associate Certified Electronics Technician certificate from ISCET (International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians), and is also a Certified IPC Specialist in J-STD-001 inspection techniques and soldering of surface mount components from Blackfox Training. Joe enjoys troubleshooting and repairing televisions and VCR's in his spare time.

Steve Whitaker - Vice President
After graduating with honors and a BA in Physics from UC Santa Barbara, Steve received a Master of Science in Meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is well published and has a wealth of experience in system architectures and computer systems, from mainframes to micros. He has designed and implemented numerous field measurement systems and specializes in precision instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis, and RF and telephonic data communications. Steve is an avid cyclist and has completed the four hundred mile "Ride the Rockies" bicycle tour eight times. He also enjoys tennis and golf in his spare time.

Stanci March - Vice President of Business Development
Stanci (pronounced stonch-ee) handles the majority of initial communications with our clients and associates. He also heads up most of the marketing and networking efforts of the company, representing Kinetek at various trade shows and industry events. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Sports Management and Administration in 1999. His professional experience prior to joining Kinetek includes 6 years experience in IT and web conferencing sales, as well as marketing, events promotions, and donor/sponsorship activities for an NCAA Division I Athletics Department. Stanci often works as a liaison between our clients and our developers to make sure goals and milestones are being met according to expectation. He prides himself on his ability to accept the challenges of Kinetek's customers as his own. His goal for every client is for us to design for them the best possible products so that they will maintain a high level of profitability and return to us for their next generation of development.
During college, Stanci was dedicated to athletics as well as academics taking a year off from school to play a season of professional rugby in Durban, South Africa. He is also certified as a firefighter with the State of Colorado. Some of his favorite activities include downhill-skiing, taking back-country trips, fishing, and following his beloved Kansas Jayhawks sports teams.

Jim Atwell - Electrical Engineer
Jim received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from UNC-Charlotte where he focused on embedded systems. After college he worked for a few years as a test engineer in Oregon, and then went to Virginia Tech where he studied VHDL, FPGAs and reconfigurable computing. After he received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, he moved to Colorado. Jim possesses over 10 years of engineering experience with projects including a gas engine controller, an arbitrary waveform generator, DSP applications, image processing applications, a VGA controller and several other microcontroller based systems.
